Nas Doesn't Get The Proper Respect That He Deserves

Don’t get me wrong, it’s undeniable that Nas is a legend in the game but he doesn’t get the proper respect that he deserves when it comes to being a good role model. Or being a rapper who sets a good example while the opposite is what is being promoted most.

When you think of rap and God, one rapper usually comes to mind. Most would think of Kanye West but not me. In fact i’ll say rappers like Nas and Dmx are the ones to normalize it. Kanye just made it much more mainstream.

Growing up, Nas was one of my biggest influences. I’ve always appreciated how he was authenic and always remained true to himself. While most rappers were chasing the trends, Nas was in a category of his own. He always called himself God’s Son, which happens to be one of his most underrated albums.

I’ll never forget when the Nas and Jay-z beef went viral. While the popular thing to do was to roll with Jay-z. Real hiphop heads like myself chose Nas. That was when I first started noticing Nas getting disrespect.

At the time I didn’t realize it but some people are just brainswashed by the mainstream narrative. Little did I know, Nas would be set up to be disrespected on a whole other level.

Years later rap got really dumbed down. I really seen there was a problem with hiphop and the fanbase, when Nas was being disrespected by the younger generation. Even NBA players like Lonzo Ball was doing it and the whole younger generation rolled with it.

Lonzo Ball: “Y'all outdated, man. Don't nobody listen to Nas no more"

Then you got 21 Savage joining the party and saying “Nas is not relevant”

Now i’ll give 21 credit for owning up to his mistake and later on doing a Collab with Nas. That was great for hip hop in my honest opinion. The cool thing to do is disrespect legends for some odd reason. & it does not sit well with me. Why is Hip Hop the only genre with an age limit?

Listen to any other genre, and all the artists respect and honor the legends.

Out of all rappers, Nas is the last rapper that should be disrespected. We talking about a dude who preaches God, Peace and Morales.

Nas even has a song that’s called Carry On Tradition, which is exactly the model that has got lost in today’s society. Too many times younger people don’t wanna listen to the O.g’s with all the wisdom. Instead they wanna do their own thing and get all the money and girls.

I learned a lot from Nas and you got to respect his longevity. He’s still making good music to this day.
